September 10 @ 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
MUSEUM OF CRAFT AND DESIGN
The Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional Chinese festival marking the end of the autumn harvest. The Museum of Craft and Design is celebrating this occasion with local calligraphy artist, Jojo Liu, as she models the ancient Chinese art of calligraphy through a floor demonstration in MCD’s MakeArt Gallery.
Calligraphy is a revered art form that has existed for thousands of years and is considered high art in Chinese culture. Jojo Liu takes these processes and techniques to epic, contemporary extremes by writing with a huge brush on a long scroll spread out on the ground.
Drop into the MakeArt Gallery to watch Liu at work, then try your own hand at calligraphy with a free materials exploration of this ancient art.
Calligraphy demonstration and MakeArt activities are free with admission.
$10 General Admission, $8 for Students and Seniors, Children 12+ under FREE, and MCD members FREE.
