International Art Museum of America is celebrating Asian Pacific American Heritage Month with a professional calligraphy course with Artist and Instructor Jojo Liu. Celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and explore the basic techniques in Chinese calligraphy. You will learn the brief history of Chinese calligraphy, proper writing techniques, and have the opportunity to write a few phrases using Chinese Calligraphy. This workshop teaches simple writing techniques of Chinese calligraphy and promotes cultural appreciation.
For beginner to intermediate level learners, no prior calligraphy skills are needed.
About the Artist: Jojo Liu's art practice is based in the rich and beautiful tradition of Chinese calligraphy. Chinese calligraphy is one of the most traditional art forms in the world and is truly representative of Eastern art and culture. "My grandfather inspired and taught me to practice Chinese calligraphy from a young age, and I continue to have more love for it every day. By introducing my experience and passion, I present a modern twist to traditional Chinese calligraphy. My work strikes a delicate balance between traditional calligraphy art with a personal flair" Jojo Liu. Jojo is a current board member for the San Francisco Chinese Arts Association, as well as a member of the American Artist Association.
